L' Argilla Ceramic Studio
L’Argilla has been set up by Sadhana Agarwal, a multidisciplinary artist, who loves to work on any medium which can give expression to her creativity. A chance visit to Andretta Pottery, India’s oldest studio set up by legendary Gurcharan Singh in Himachal Pradesh, inspired her to take up pottery which has now become her passion.
What attracted Sadhana to pottery was its direct connection to the fundamental elements of nature – earth, water, air, fire, and space. All these elements come together in a specific, delicate balance to create each piece of pottery.
After learning the basics in the Delhi Blue Pottery Trust, she has enhanced her skills by experimenting herself with different styles, shapes, texture, and glazes. Working primarily with stoneware clay, she likes to explore wheel-thrown pottery as well as hand-built pottery. She loves creating decorative and artistic pieces, often asymmetrical and defying standard norms of design. No two pieces are the same, making each piece truly unique.
She finds molding a soft lump of clay into a beautiful sturdy object that lasts for years very fascinating and magical, every time! It keeps her going and inspires her to keep creating new designs. While this process requires immense patience, it is aptly rewarded when the kiln is opened to find shiny new pieces, ready to find a home.
She hopes that these pieces of art act as not just a means to enhance the beauty of the space around them, but also act as little reminders of all these wonderful aspects that go into creating it.
